Yes, I know I am not here much. If I am around though, it's over at FLICKR

New Year, New Blog!

Ok I swear this year I will blog more! I really miss everyone and I miss documenting the kids’ lives! I am in process of redoing the family blog too since that was a big flop - we only updated it maybe 5 times! So to the New Year I will be back! Off to make some changes and do some updates!

It’s a great day to be at home!

Kids at school, Ry’s at daycare, Greg’s at work. Where am I?

AT HOME! I love Columbus day and working for a company that you get all those funky bank holidays off :)

Plans today? Too many to fit in but I have to clean (a must on every day I have off apparently), go to Costco and pick up Ry’s pictures from her shoot yesterday (I love them! Take a look on Flickr. More to be posted later. Then I have to get stuff for her birthday invites, pick up the rest of her presents (so far she is getting the American Girl of the Year Nicki that happens to be a cowgirl!) and then come home assemble said invites and get them ready for the mail. If I have time I also have to go through the toys and rid the house of some while the kids aren’t here. And then - maybe get some crap on ebay / craigslist. I have a ton to get rid of!

Who said having days off was relaxing?

Big Decisions, they could be life changing!

Howdy y’all! Nothing has changed here…..still deep in football games, dance, and everything else. Thankfully Flag football for A ended today (can I get a WOOT!).

We have a big decision to make here in the next few days - it’s major…..

Do we have for Ry’s 3rd birthday - a Princess party complete with a Bouncy Princess Castle or a Horsey Party complete with pony rides? I know - HOW DO I CHOOSE?

Boys are shooting for Bouncy Castle while I think Ry is leaning towards the pony rides. In reality I don’t think any of them will care!

Background - a lady who does the pony rides / owns horses hasa daughter who is a model who I will be taking new headshots for and a guy I work with knows a lady that owns a bouncy business! It’s good to know people…

Now - off to enjoy the 85 degree hot and humid day!

It’s a TOUCHDOWN! and a update

HEY! Anyone there?

Yes, I know I am HORRIBLE at updating this thing, but really 3 kids? All in activities? Hanging out a cabin all weekend? Ok so the last one really isn’t a excuse since we have wireless internet up there but still.

Since someone is getting on my back (Hi Flinger Fam!) I thought I would give this update since it is a landmark day and all - for our family - not just because it’s 9/11.

Football season has started for us, and for those who haven’t been over to my flickr in a while :) B is playing Defensive End and Running Back. Yes, RUNNING BACK. Now, he isn’t a quick kid by all means, but not slow. And not big either. But Coach Dad thought he would do well since he is a logical player. It was hard at first to see my baby being toppled on top of, rather then being the topplee! But he loves it and is doing a excellent job of running in the middle (his main play). And today - He got his first TOUCHDOWN! I think he is really excited but being 11 now, and a big middle schooler he doesn’t show it much :) He is doing awesome in football and they even have a few Saturday games. Which sucks for us but means great pictures (as long as I can find a sitter for Ry that is).

A is playing flag football again this year. Which he does play on Saturday mornings. Thank goodness it’s not nice out or that would suck not being able to go hang at the lake when it’s 90 and sunny out. He is doing well, but he says he’s not ready to play tackle next year. We are still working on him with that!

Remember when I said that all 3 are in activities? Yep - now so is Ry. Tomorrow is the first official day of DANCE class! She is super excited as was I just to buy tiny little ballet shoes (her feet aren’t really all that tiny, they are a size 10 but still!). We got this little cute leo with attached poofy tutu. And even a snazzy dance bag from Payless (it was pink which is all that mattered to her). I can’t wait. Pictures to come tomorrow!

So that’s it really. 5 days a week at football, Sundays at the Vikings Games (we have season tickets at home) and when they aren’t here G is hoping to be fishing. I have SO much stuff I want to get done, like updating the fam site (yikes, that is horribly out of date) but it will have to come when I have time and no sports to attend.

Chow for now ladies!

Fears do become reality

I don’t have a lot of “fears” besides the normal with things like my kids etc. But I do have a real fear of Bridges especially over water. This all stems from me being a wise ol’ 10 1/2 yr old at home watching the devastation from the Earthquake in SF in 1989. Ever since then I don’t like to stop on bridges. Seeing those bridge decks collapsed on top of each other and the stories of people trapped dying from the fire was too much for me.

Unfortunately, it has happened - my fear came a reality tonight. A bridge that I have driven over and over to head to the airport, downtown, the metrodome, Mall of America, my sisters, and to visit Greg at his college apt (which was right on the corner of this).

Collapsed.

Into the Mississippi River.

My state, my home, the city where G & I both work.
I felt like I was having a heart attack when I heard this. First thing that came to my mind was - which kid would I have to choose to save???? B can swim, A can but not that good, and Ry can’t. Would I have had to send the boys off HOPING that B was strong enough to carry them both to shore while I saved Ry? Or what if my sister was on there. With her 3 young kids. None of them can swim, what would she do? How could God ever put a parent in that position where they would have to choose what child to save.

As you can tell, I think about this a lot.

Every time I cross a bridge over water.

Now I will think about it even more over. After I say a little prayer for those who survived, injured, missing, and dead. I hope no one I know had to experience that.
